Congratulationpregnant

Gauguin, "Be happy love you"

Paul Gauguin. Be Symbolist (parodic-serious self-portrait with a caricature of John Moreas in putto). La Plume , 1 January 1891

Paul Gauguin. Be happy you love. 1889. 95 X 72. Bas-relief polychrome linden wood. Boston Museum of Fine Arts

This is a sculpture I did the best and strangest. Gauguin (like a monster), taking the hand of a woman who defends herself, saying: Be love, you'll be happy . The fox, Indian symbol of perversity, and in the interstices of small figures. The wood will be stained.

Paul Gauguin, letter to Emile BERNARD, September 1889

***

Since you want to literature, I'll give you a bit (to yourself). Above the corrupt city of Babylon. Down, as if through a window, a view of fields, nature, with its flowers. A simple woman, a demon takes by hand, which is defending itself, despite the good advice of registration temptress. A fox (symbol of evil among the Indians). Several figures in this community who express the opposite of advice ("you'll be happy") to show that it is untrue. For those who want to literature, here. But it is not for verification.

Paul Gauguin, letter to Theo van Gogh, November 21, 1889
